Nokia

With years of snow drought across England why not have it brought home from the source of everything Christmassy - Lapland!

Nokia wanted to create some cut through during the Christmas season. With Weiden + Kennedy, WorkClub and Mission PR focusing on the ATL and event elements, we at Wunderman/Blast Radius conceived a full digital suite of consumer touch-points including a magical 3D world microsite, Facebook presence and free App that let users design and send digital cards as well as shake a virtual snow globe.

The digital experience reimagines the UK as a 3D island, metaphorically 'winterised' by Finland to bring the magic of Lapland to life. Drawing from the campaign’s art direction, we translated a rich colour palette and a cast of quirky spirits into an immersive set design, populating this frozen world with bespoke 3D characters.

In collaboration with Kettle 3D, we designed and developed an expansive virtual world to house our interactive experience. Leveraging cutting-edge web technology, the site invited users to manipulate the environment—flipping the world through various perspectives to uncover hidden prizes, integrated apps, and charming narrative animations.

The results were the best for any Christmas campaign to date, with massive conversion through to the competition and the online shop.

And on top of the great public response, the site received industry recognition winning FWA SOTD that Christmas Eve and making the final cut @ Cannes and winning a Bronze DMA.
