This wasn't just a facelift; it was a high-voltage declaration that Africa has moved from the periphery of the global tech conversation to its vibrant centre. By fusing deep-rooted heritage with cutting-edge impact, this rebrand signalled a shift; a bold, symbolic stake in the ground asserting that the continent is not only a "land of potential," but a powerhouse of active innovation and collaborative ascendency.
Strategically, this new identity harmonised the previous discord between Africa Ignite, Africa Tech, and Africa Com, weaving them into a single, robust brand platform. This unified expression provides a consistent pulse across the entire ecosystem while leaving enough room for each event to showcase its unique personality.
I worked as the in-house Brand Creative & Design Director and we commissioned Cape Town agency Tag to deliver a complete rethink for the brand. Then we took the core brand elements to build out a comlpete design ecosystem for spatial, signage and environmental design.
